FastTrack, a strategy to shorten time to degree

Recent reports express concern about the sustainability of biomedical research enterprise in its current form. Recurring concerns include predictability and funding for research, regulatory burden training next generation workforce. One specific is duration periods during pre-doctoral post-doctoral studies. This article addresses issue time-to-degree (TTD) doctorates. Many stress importance shortening TTD, but provide no recommendations to achieve this goal. Herein, factors potentially affecting TTD are discussed one mechanism that harmonizes undergraduate graduate programs proposed as a strategy reduce TTD.
